LAND DISPUTE: BADJOP-NDOGPENDA CANTON AGAINST CCO SARL MINDCAF calls for consensus
The Minister of State Property, Surveys and Land Tenure, Henri Eyebe Ayissi, presided over an extended meeting relating to the implementation of recommendations of the situational report and prospects for settling the dispute arising from the de facto occupancy and exploitation of parcels of national land in the Nkam Division, Yabassi Sub-Division, Badjop-Ndogpenda canton, without any legal title, by the Complexe Cosmétique de l’Ouest Company (CCO SARL).
After a presentation of the situation, the Minister instructed that all the information, objections and grievances that he received should be taken into consideration.
The Minister took note that further appreciations of the recommendations recorded in the report of the Senior Divisional Officer should be done to better consider the interests and expectations of the local population, so that their ancestral lands could be managed in a way that would reassure them. More than 3,623.33 hectares of this land belong to the promoter of the Complexe Cosmétique de l’Ouest (CCO SARL) and are not disputed, and 1,676.64 hectares are disputed by the local community in several villages of the Badjop-Ndogpenda canton.
A committee led by the Secretary General of MINDCAF, Innocent Ndilassi, was set up to work until 25 July 2025. At the end of this period, proposals will be made by the government to find solutions, in consultation with the various stakeholders involved in this case, to help find appropriate solutions that comply with the law and are likely to create conditions that will appease the expectations of both sides.
The promoter of CCO SARL pledged to seek peace with the people who welcomed him, but with regard to law, the Government, through the Minister of State Property, Surveys and Land Tenure, Henri Eyebe Ayissi, will take his responsibilities to harness all proposals made in this case between the Badjop-Ndogpenda canton and the promoter of the CCO SARL Company, in order to reconcile the pursuit of peace with the promotion of local development.
