National Bilingualism Week: MINDCAF Kicks Off Activities with a Fitness Walk

Yaounde, last Saturday. The main streets of the capital city came alive with the inaugural walk marking the opening of National Bilingualism Week, organised by the Ministry of State Property, Surveys and Land Tenure (MINDCAF).

Led by Mrs Nathalie Seppi, Head of the Translation Unit, translators, interpreters and other personnel took part in a friendly and unifying walk. The event also included stretching and relaxation exercises led by a fitness coach, giving the occasion both a sporting and a social dimension.

Beyond the fitness walk itself, the launch provided an opportunity to highlight this year’s theme: “Artificial intelligence and bilingualism at the service of good land governance.” The theme reflects MINDCAF’s commitment to combine modern technology with linguistic diversity.

Artificial intelligence is set to play a key role in the management of land certificate by facilitating access to data and reducing administrative delays.

Bilingualism, meanwhile, remains an essential tool for ensuring fairness and inclusion in public services, particularly in an area as sensitive as land governance.

This fitness walk was just the prelude to a series of activities, including conferences, workshops and discussions on the challenges of bilingualism and technological innovation. The organisers hope these initiatives will help to strengthen transparency and enhance public confidence in land administration.
